ARCH1101 - Pre Studio Session One Work

1. Creative Work at High School:

The following is a short segment of a Crime Fiction story. It is written in the form of "Pulp Fiction", a sub-genre of crime fiction. This piece describes the murdered body moments after the murder is committed, incorporating the many conventions of crime fiction and also adapting to the common style of "Pulp Fiction":

...Inside the office was a grimacing site. Suzie was backed onto the wall and the body of a shyster lay on the desk. Limp. Lifeless. The thick, crimson red paint streamed down his face, beginning from the skull. Like a tear a line of blood trickled down the cheekbone, down the cheek, and curved across the jaw. The canvas was positioned such that nothing was left to the imagination. This line of work teaches you how calm down an innocent experiencing a murder for the first time, "Big Al! He's... He's...D-"
I interrupted, "Dead..."

2. Great Piece of Architecture:

The "Rotating Towers" in Dubai is scheduled to be completed by 2010. This skyscraper will span eighty floors, upon which will rotate on a floor by floor basis controlled by the owners. Conscious of being environmentally sound, wind turbines would be fitted between each floor so the building could generate it's own electricity. Both modern and innovative, the concept was introduced by architect David Fisher who quoted that buildings would be "designed by life, shaped by time."

3. Photograph of something Beautiful:

"Sunset", Taken by Alan Leones

This photograph was taken at dusk in the Hills District area. Serene yet vivid, the composition is centered, with minimal shadow in the foreground distracting the audience. The subject is at eye level, with a single light source creating different textures penetrating through clouds. A very dramatic photograph of an otherwise peaceful scene.
