Material and Production Methods

Fiona Hall's "Leaf Litter" is an ongoing series which began in 2000. The main concept is derived from the concept spoken by Hall that, "Money doesn't grow on trees - or does it?". This piece parallels the "distribution of plant species with the distribution of monetary wealth." (Alex McDonald) It consists of gouache paintings of leaves rendered onto foreign paper currency.

Rosalie Gascoigne's "Step Through" was installed in 1980. It consists of 15 segmented pieces of torn floral pattered linoleum. It is mounted on blocks of wood and scattered throughout the area. The blocks of wood are placed at different angles and at different heights, with no two blocks having the exact same composition. The reason for such placement is to allow the viewer to explore space, which highlights the importance of movement throughout space.
